How does watching the film version of Into the Wild change or deepen your understanding of Chris McCandless compared to reading the book? In your response, explain one key difference in how his character or experiences are presented, and connect this to a time when seeing something visually changed your understanding of a situation

Watching the film deepens my understanding of Chris compared to reading the book significantly because it makes it feel a lot more romantized. It makes me have more sympathy for him because it gives more emotion and feeling toward his reasoning behind why he is escaping society. The film shows more of his happiness in the wilderness and his emotions, while the book can only describe his actions.  Today we ready the next 40 minutes of the movie I learned the difference of the way Chris's actions were viewed from the book vs the movie

Chris and his sister Carine McCandless had a very close relationship, even when he struggled to connect with others. Write about a relationship in your life where you feel truly understood. Explain what makes that relationship strong and how it compares to the connection between Chris and Carine in Into the Wild

A relationship that is similar to Chris and his sister Carine is the relationship between me and my best friend Maddie. What makes this relationship strong is how we both understand each other on every level, and can always be there for each other to give good advice. We also are always doing our favorite things together, and we enjoy the same things.  I was absent

How do you typically respond when people give you advice? Do you usually accept it, question it, or ignore it? Explain your reasoning.

The way I typically respond when people give me advice is that I take note of it and use it for next time that I have that problem. However, it does depend on the situation as well. If people are giving me advice without me asking for it, sometimes it's unwanted and I will do my own thing. In another situation, where I am asking for advice, then I usually take that and use it to my advantage.  I was absent today

Based on the first 40 minutes of the film and Chapters 1–11 of the book, does the visual version of Chris’s journey make his choices seem more justified or more reckless than the text does? Explain how the medium (film vs writing) shapes your perspective.

The film makes Chris's journey and his choices seem a lot more justified, based on the first 40 minutes. I think its justified because it shows his emotions and actions when he is free in Alaska, and it also shows his parents and how he feels about materialism and money.  today we watched the first 40 minutes of the into the wild film  I learned the differences between the introduction to the movie and the book

Think about a moment when your understanding of your family changed as you got older. How did that shift impact your perspective, and how does that connect to Chris’s realization about his parents in Chapter 11?

My understanding of my family changed when my parents got divorced and I understood the reason why a few years after. When my mom told me the reasons and I realized what the true story was, my relationship with my family was changed. The shift impacted my perspective because I didn't know much when I was little, but then once I knew, I became more independent when I found out.  Today we filled out two sheets about chapter 11.  I learned about Chris's family life and why he was so independent.

Reflect on your reading of Into the Wild chapters 1–10. Which chapter stood out to you the most, and why? In your response, explain what specifically made this chapter meaningful, interesting, or impactful. You may consider elements such as McCandless’s actions, a key event, a theme, or Krakauer’s storytelling.

To me, chapter 2 stood out to me the most because I thought finding the abandoned bus with the note was interesting. As a child, I was always interested on exploring and finding old abandoned things, and so I thought that seeing that in person would have been intriguing to me. I think especially if I saw that the note was asking for help, I would have been scared but really interested to see what it was.  Today we took a test on chapters 1-10

Chris McCandless rejects a traditional path of success and instead defines success on his own terms through freedom, experience, and personal meaning. Reflect on what success means to you at your current stage in life. In the response, explain how success is currently defined (grades, college acceptance, achievements, happiness, etc.) and where those ideas come from. Then, consider whether that definition truly reflects personal values or if it is shaped by expectations from family, school, or society.

Currently, in my life, success to me is having at least B's in my classes, having good attendance, doing things on time, and managing my time good. However, success in societies eyes usually looks like having straight A's, getting a good job, being in lots of clubs, going to a great college, etc. I think this is just how the world has shaped expectations. My expectations for myself aren't that high, but I hope to achieve the best I can for myself.  This day we read chapters 9 and 10 and filled out papers doing connections  I learned how to connect a book to my personal experiences

Chris chooses independence over relationships. When have you chosen to be on your own instead of relying on others? What happened, and would you make the same choice again?

a time when I have chosen to be on my own instead of relying on others is when I did a group project and decided that I would be better off doing it by myself. The members of my group were not doing any of the work, and they weren't being good group members in general. I split off and started doing the project on my own, and I ended up getting a good grade on it. I would make the same choice again if I had to because I think it's important to do your part as a group mate.  I was absent

Choose a vocabulary word from Lesson 10 that resonates with you personally. Write a blog post explaining why this word is significant to you, including any personal memories or experiences that link you to the word.

The word that  resonates with me personally is most likely timorous. I can still be timorous at times, but the reason this resonates with me the most is because I used to be very timid and shy. Since I have met my group of friends junior year and joined theatre, I have been more outgoing and less scared to be myself.  Today we reviewed vocabulary lesson 10. I learned about what the words mean and how to use them in a sentence.

For most of you, yesterday you took the SAT. If you did not, you will take it before you leave high school. What is your desired SAT score? Identify your top three colleges and explain why each school appeals to you.

My desired sat score is most likely a 1300-1400. right now, from my first sat, I had an 1180 without studying much. I think if I put some work into it I could do great on the sat. Im not sure about my top three colleges yet, but the ones I wanna visit are gscu, auburn, and uga. I want to see these schools because I think I have a chance at getting in if I work hard enough.  I was absent

Twice a year we adjust our clocks for daylight saving time, but the change can affect our sleep, energy, and daily routines. Now that we have sprung forward; reflect on how this time change impacts you personally. Do you find it easy or difficult to adjust your schedule? Explain how the time change affects your mood, productivity, or daily habits.

I don't find it super difficult to adjust my schedule during daylight savings only because an hour doesn't make a significant impact on my lifestyle. My sleep schedule changes almost every night, and depending on how much work I have, what time I get home, etc, I am always going to bed at a different hour. so it was annoying losing an hour of sleep, but I made it up just by sleeping in extra.  Today we read chapter 6 and did a 3-2-1 activity.  I learned what a 3-2-1 activity was and how to answer the questions.

In Chapter 5 of Into the Wild, McCandless is strongly influenced by writers like Jack London, whose stories shape the way he thinks about adventure and wilderness. Has a book, song, musician, or artist ever influenced the way you think about life, goals, or the world around you? Identify the specific book, song, musician, or artist and explain how their ideas or message affected your thinking.

Although there is lots of music and many artists that influence me positively everyday, A small band called little hopes has inspired me to keep persuing music. (especially with the name.) When I first saw them at porch fest with my friend, we enjoyed their music so much that we decided to perform one of their songs at a recital. Then, we went to their concert. Their uplifting vibes and music make me want to continue with music.  I was absent

In Into the Wild, Christopher McCandless gives up many of his possessions in pursuit of freedom and meaningful experiences. If you had to simplify your life and keep only a few important possessions, what would you keep and why? What would be hardest to leave behind?

If I were to simplify my life and keep only a few possessions, I would keep my phone, my car, and my savings. this sounds almost exactly the opposite of what Alex decided to do. I would keep these possessions because I prioritize having shelter and something to travel with, along with something to keep in contact with people, and emergency money. The hardest things I would have to leave behind would be all of my other belongings like my bed and all of my clothes, and especially my guitar.  today we answered 12 questions about the chapter of into the wild.  I learned more about myself by answering personal questions, and more about the book itself.

People sometimes feel the need to step away from their normal routines or environments in order to better understand themselves. Describe a time when you needed distance from a situation, place, or group of people in order to think more clearly or gain perspective. What did that experience teach you about yourself?

A time when I needed to take some time for myself and gain some space from other people was when I went to my gym cafe area to go study. Normally, I study with my friends, but at this moment I needed to focus really hard and was struggling by getting distracted with them. This experience allowed me to think clearly without any distractions. However, I still like the social aspect of studying with my friends because I can be productive while spending time with them.  we read chapters 2-3 of into the wild  I learned more about the book and about what Alex wanted to do in this chapter.

After reading Chapter 1 of Into the Wild, consider your first impression of Christopher McCandless. Based solely on the events and details presented in this opening chapter, do you believe McCandless truly understood the risks he was taking when he entered the Alaskan wilderness? Why or why not?

After reading chapter 1 of into the wild, my first impression of Christopher McCandless is that he was not prepared to enter the Alaskan wilderness. I think he didn't understand the risks completely and didn't know what he was getting himself into, considering that he was asking lots of questions and gave away all of his things. He did not have the right things with him that he should have brought to survive, so clearly he was not prepared. today we ready chapter 1 of into the wild I learned about Christopher McCandless and the intro to his journey to alaska

Today you worked on creating your Vocabulary Digital Cards in Adobe Express. In one well-developed paragraph, reflect on the assignment by explaining which vocabulary word was easiest for you to understand, which word was most challenging, and how creating your own sentence and selecting an image helped strengthen your understanding of the vocabulary. Use specific examples from your work.

Overall, I really enjoyed todays assignenment because it made me gain a deeper understanding of each word. The easiest word for me to understand was the word provocative because I remember that I had heard it before, and had some kind of idea of what the definition was. The hardest word for me to understand was the word recrimination. This word was hard because there were no synonyms or antonyms. I had to look it up, but even then it was still hard for me to wrap my Brain around.  today we made a slideshow of vocabulary words  I learned about the definition of vocab words on lesson 9
