Write about a time when you did something out of the norm. What was it and how did others react?

Something I did that was out of the norm was randomly going to the gym when I never had before and always hated excersise. About 2 years ago, I wanted nothing to do with sports or activity. One day, I decided I didn't want to be that way anymore and went for a run. My parents and friends were shocked because I was always known to not do any sort of activity. I hated the run and didnt go far, but it got me more active, and ever since I have been going to the gym. Im still terrible at running and dont do it a lot, but I would've never ran back then so it was very random.  today we read another poem and answered some questions.  Today I learned that failure is a part of success.

Dickinson uses the metaphor of a funeral to describe her inner struggles. What metaphor would you use to describe your own mind?

I would describe my brain as a zoo. My head is always full of random things, important things, certain dates, people, homework etc. Im extremely stressed a lot of the time and i tend to forget things because I have so much going on and so many things to worry about. Just like the zoo, my head is scattered with different things all of the time, like animals. Today we read another two poems and analyzed them both, then made designs inside of a heart that showed logical and emotional parts of ourselves. Today I learned that to forget something or someone, you have to forgive them/it.

Write about an adventure you would like to go on

An adventure that I would like to go on would be either travelling route 66 or backpacking through Europe. I think I would most want to backpack europe because I could see multiple different countries, and I would also enjoy the excersise and walking around everywhere. I would most likely go with either my mom or one of my really close friends. I would also consider going by myself because I like to be independent. I love to travel, even though I haven't been many places. I would want to explore more and challenge myself to travel with limited items and no plan.  Today we reviewed a poem and annotated it  I learned that its okay to be different and not blend in with the crowd.

Describe something you will never fully understand.

Something I will never understand is how some people have the opinion that clearly isn't right. Some opinions are valid, such as liking something or not liking something. However, there are many times when one opinion is clearly correct and can be backed up by facts, but people choose the stupid opinion because its what the majority of people say. An example can be politics, or a law. There's clearly a correct answer to what should happen and who should be in charge, and I will never understand how someone who has the opposite opinion of me operates their brain.  today we watched people present their origin myth posters.  Today I learned how everyone can be creative and come up with different ideas about creating the earth or people.

Write about something that you wish you had more of?

Something I wish I had more of was creativity and talent. As for creativity, I feel like I lack a lot compared to other people or students. For example, when an assignment is created where I am supposed to make something from my imagination, like in art, I have trouble coming up with ideas. Another example is thinking of a witty answer for a question, and it feels like everyone can come up with something easily, but I cant. I also wish I had more talent, both physically and musically. I have never been able to play sports well, and I've accepted that because I don't really enjoy them anyways. However, I am better with music, but not as great as I would like to be. I can always improve by practicing, but it wont be the same as someone with natural born talent.  Today we finished up our posters and read some of the burning questions about life. I learned that you don't always have to know the answers right now.

What is the most creative thing you have ever made? Share what it was and explain why it stands out as your best work.

The most creative thing I have ever made was a painting that I made in art class. I'm normally not a very creative person, but this time, I had an idea in my head and put it on paper. This stands out to me because since I am not very creative, I was proud of this artwork and that I was able to put my thoughts on paper. It might not have been as good looking as other pieces of art, but It was something original. today we finished writing our origin myths, and began making posters for them. today I learned about the rubric and how to properly use Adobe express to edit a poster.

Everyone has burning questions about life. Mysteries we wonder about but don’t always have clear answers for. Think about your biggest questions about existence, purpose, or the world around you. Write a blog post where you share at least two of your most burning questions about life and explain why these questions matter to you.

One of my most burning questions about life is why we are here. Since I am Christian, we are told everyone has a purpose. However, I don't know if I believe that. I wonder why we are all stuck in the same cycle, like become educated, get a job, have a family, sleep repeat. It doesn't make sense to me. We are all just doing things to keep the cycle going. Another question I have is why is there so many religions. I wish there was just one creator that everyone knew was true so that you didn't have to worry about afterlife and who goes where.  Today we wrote our own origin myths.  Today I learned how to be a little more creative and think about how I could imagine the earth starting with my imagination.

Describe a time you felt completely lost

A time that I felt completely lost was the first time I drove to my brothers school. This particular day, I had to pick up my brother after school, which I had never seen or been to before. I looked up the directions and it didn't seem too complicated. However, when I got there, I couldn't find the carpool line. I drive past his school twice and had to find the way in. I ended up calling my mom and she was confused as well. Eventually, I followed a car into the carpool line. It was an extremely stressful situation.  I was absent so I don't know what we did today.

Analyze how you’ve adapted to the demands of this course over the past week, and evaluate one strength and one challenge you anticipate as we progress, justifying your insights with personal examples.

I've adapted to the demands of this course over the past week by figuring out the blog prompts, working with groups, and realizing you will be called on to speak during class. The blog prompts corellate with the lesson that we learn that day. I've also gotten used to being in random groups, as well as being prepared to answer a question. One strength I have in this class is writing about things I know for the blog prompts. However, a challenge that I anticipate is comprehending the readings. I don't always understand stories, and sometimes I have to reread them multiple times for them to register and make sense in my head.  today we took a quiz on an origin myth story.  Today I learned about an origin myth and reminded myself that they were about ancient nature stories.

Describe a real-life situation in which jealousy negatively affected a relationship you experienced.

A real life situation in which jealousy negatively affected a relationship I experienced was when I was in a new relationship with a guy. The girl that he had talked to previously, I compared myself to her and obsessed about it. Although this is really common with everyone in relationships, it made me insecure and sometimes my actions showed that. However, now I have grown out of that and I am more confident.  Today we read a jealous father, and got into groups in which we created a PowerPoint slide answering questions about the story.  The story we read today taught me the lesson that if you stay persistent and try to overcome challenges, you will become stronger.

Write about a meaningful object or place in your life that carries a story.

Today we learned and read about the origin myth, the Navajo creation, and answered questions reviewing our annotations. today I learned that it was an origin myth because it discussed the creation of the earth. A meaningful object in my life that carries a story is my guitar. My greatest passion in life is music, and my guitar is where I finally started. When I was little, I would take pictures with guitars, took music classes, played the ukulele every now and then, but was never serious about it. During my freshman year, I decided to start playing guitar.  I used my mom's old one that her dad got her when she was little. After progressing over a year, I got a new guitar, and it is my most prized possession.

Write about a time you felt connected to nature, like the kinship in Native American myths.

One time that I felt connected to nature was when I went on my usual daily walk without music. Normally, I Go  on a long 3-6 mile walk outside when I get the chance. I like to either listen to music or watch a show on my phone while I walk, but this particular time, I had forgotten to charge my headphones. Instead of not going, I still went outside, but I heard the sounds of nature rather than my music. It allowed me to reconnect and appreciate nature.  Today we introduced Native American Literature and learned facts about it.  I learned that Origin myths are different from urban legends.
